I Dont Understand The Direction That The Goverment Wants To Go But All These Decisions Influence Our Economy

It is no secret that many businesses have closed their doors in Aruba. Parliamentarian Miguel Mansur regrets this and certainly it is an alarm for governors to open their eyes seeing that many professionals are leaving Aruba because they do not see enough room to grow.

Parliamentarian Miguel Mansur believes that the biggest threat facing Aruba at the moment is public sector problems that are affecting our public finances. It’s also already advanced in states where most are now willing to spend or throw away 600 million guilders of public money to avoid accepting a rijkswet, which is a waste of time.

The Netherlands offered to let Aruba rely on their credit rating. When the Netherlands has a bond the last time it could be noted that on its 10% bond they pay 2.7% , that’s what it costs the Netherlands to borrow money, but Aruba pays 6.5%. According to parliamentarian Mansur, if Aruba’s debt is reduced and refinanced at a lower level of 3.5% it could save 110 million florins a year.

Let’s put our debts aside and focus on the 916 million guilders we owe  October 10 and if we refinance a preferential interest rate Aruba will get rid of the entire 640 million guilders debt.

But while noting the capriciousness of some members of parliament who are against the current majority in parliament, Parliamentarian Mansur does not understand their thinking, these are the same parliamentarians who after several years voted for irresponsible budgets that created the debt that Aruba has.

True, there is a pandemic and they have to borrow money and Aruba has to ask the Netherlands because Aruba could not enter the international market because Aruba’s credit was so bad, according to parliamentarian Miguel Mansur. Now Aruba has the opportunity to get back on its feet and start cutting spending and the parliament says no, the parliamentarian Miguel Mansur dont understand the direction that the goverment wants to go, but all these decisions influence our economy.

The more interest the government has to pay, the more it has to borrow from the people to pay the higher interest. Right now they want to buy less from people and businesses so that they can raise their head so that the economy can flourish and consumption can rise.

According to parliamentarian Miguel Mansur the situation is very worrying and Aruba has gone through a period of inflation where there is less control over it, but if it really is focused on helping the purchasing power and helping the citizens to live in a better financial community it is a right that they have over it and that is something that our economy can bear, the government must have the courage to reform.
