For the first time in history, the government has established a ministry for older adults

Pa Prome Biaha Den Historia Gobierno Ta Establece Un Ministerio Pa Adultonan Mayor

Minister Ursell Arends was summoned to the parliament by the AVP and MAS factions who would be very interested in the policy that the president is leading and the decision taken by the president to no longer subsidize the SABA Foundation. In her opening remarks, Minister Ursell Arends expressed her pleasure that this meeting is taking place and that it can bring clarity and truth to the management of elderly affairs that is finally moving forward.

The president also expressed that he took the position of being an elegant ruler throughout this process and chose not to speak to the press and walked the formal trajectory that should be followed, but even though on several occasions opposition leaders gave to the press and if this part should be expressed in a crude way “there was no shortage of sticks to pull the trigger” but nevertheless the reality is one thing, according to the president.

It is also hoped that when the truth comes out, it is hoped that no one will come out to apologize, because for a long time now, lies and unfair insinuations have been coming forward regarding the management of elderly affairs, the official said.
The truth is that the opposition parties that today shout in and out of parliament, what they as a party had as a vision for our older adults is a very shortcut in their overall vision and approach to our older adults in Aruba.

However, in the plan and vision of the RAIZ party, two pages were made that cover the elderly management in Aruba. According to Minister Ursell Arends, a programme was drawn up and a vision and a mission were set that would be implemented only by the government or parliament. According to the ambassador, this vision is being implemented step by step.

But on the other hand, Minister Ursell Arends reacts to the opposition of the largest party in parliament that shouts and gives opportunistic criticism regarding the issue of older adults, but in their own governance plan they have only one rule that mentions: “We ensure that they have access to activities that enrich our interest in giving them and meaningful ways to share their experience and knowledge”.
As for the current situation of the elderly in Aruba, the fact is that the elderly community has experienced different developments. The President acknowledges that he is sure that all these developments in different areas are due to the efforts and hard work of our elders. It is a reality that generation after generation our grandparents have come to build the Aruba we enjoy today. According to Minister Ursell Arends, our older adults deserve a better place in our community, a place they can enjoy in abundance with the support of our community.

For the first time in history, a government has established a ministry for older adults and this is the first real step in giving our older adults the attention and care they deserve so that they can take their place in society and get the attention they deserve. According to Minister Arends this also creates opportunities in the policy that the government of Aruba is leading to make an impact on the well-being of our older adults.

Minister Ursell Arenda voiced that he imagines an Aruba where older adults can enjoy their lives with pride and dignity and positive energy. It also shows how parents can be involved in our community.
