Restaurants and hotels in Aruba have difficulty finding enough employees to work in the kitchen. To help solve the problem, AHATA created a program to help executive chefs train employees with little experience to do culinary work. AHATA has collaborated with SVH (Stichting Vakbekwaamheid Horeca), which is the official certification in the Netherlands for the hospitality sector to offer the course and certification for chefs in Aruba.
Twenty-five chefs from various restaurants and hotels that are members of AHATA participated in the two-day course. The course prepared them for the SVH certification test, which took place on the third day. In two weeks the participants will receive the results and AHATA will organize a ceremony to present the certificates.
With certified leaders as kitchen mentors, the company has more opportunities to develop and cultivate new staff with less experience.
